This research work has investigated and prototyped a multi-standard and multi-mode ISM receiver front-ends, together with two different prototypes of fully-integrated Wake-Up receivers.
The elaborated ISM receiver front-ends were part of multi-standard transceiver systems, namely Bluetooth Low Energy operating at 2.4 GHz ISM band, the Smart Utility Network transceiver operating at 868 MHz, and the 433 MHz ISM band transceivers.
Additionally, the Wake-Up Receiver concept was investigated as a novel means to reduce the standby power dissipation of a wireless network node. Firstly, a Direct-RF Wake-Up receiver is designed that aims for optimized power dissipation. The second Wake-Up receiver prototype was proposed with improved system selectivity and its tolerance against inference signals.
