To understand the fundamental processes of molecules, atomic resolution imaging of strongly controlled molecules has been proposed as an ideal tool. This would allow structures and dynamic processes to be adequately represented. If we achieve more control over the spatial confinement and the quantum states of the molecules, we can gain more information from the measured images. Therefore, in this work two complementary methods are described to improve the control of molecules. Here we use the reference molecule carbonyl sulfide (OCS). However, the applications are not be limited to this one molecule, but can be used for more complex polar, potentially even non-polar, molecules.
