The primary purpose of this work is to face two specific challenges of modern aero-engines and gas turbines. The first deals with a contribution to the discussion on a concise definition of the partially premixed combustion regime that is often stated to be given in the combustion chamber of a typical modern aero-engine or gas turbine. The second aims on the challenges regarding effusion cooling of combustion chamber walls that comes as consequence of a so called "downsizing"-trend of machines.
