Interconnected systems are complex systems composed of a large number of subsystems with possibly time-varying interconnections that are often subject to time delays. With a rising number of subsystems, classical analysis and synthesis approaches become intractable. This work proposes a unifying framework that encompasses different classes of interconnected systems as well as efficient decomposition approaches to reduce the complexity of analysis and distributed controller synthesis for interconnected systems. Furthermore, interconnection time delays are considered in the analysis. Significantly less conservative conditions are introduced here for the interconnection delays by exploiting their characteristics.
