Development of new asymmetric organocatalytic domino reactions for the synthesis of (benzo-fused) five- and benzo-fused six-membered cyclic compounds

The present work reports the results obtained from four projects. All of the studied processes proceed in conditions of asymmetric organocatalysis. The first project involves the development of a new Michael/Michael domino reaction for the synthesis of polysubstituted 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalenes. The second project includes the domino Mannich/cyclization sequence between α-ketoesters and tosylimines, affording 4,5-disubstituted 3-hydroxy-1H-pyrrol-2(5H)-ones. Next, the reaction between o-divinylketone and linear aldehydes was investigated, resulting in the construction of 1,2,3-polysubstituted indanes. In the last project, the enantioselective organocatalytic Friedel-Crafts-type Michael addition of electron-rich alkenes to nitroolefins was studied.
