The dynamic behaviour of rubber under consideration of the Mullins and the Payne effect

Filled rubber compounds are used in various areas of engineering (e.g. tires, bushings, vibration isolators.) where precise simulation of the mechanical properties are a crucial point. These materials exhibit different very important phenomena like viscoelastic behaviour, pronounced stress-softening (the so-called Mullins effect) and amplitude dependence under dynamic loads (the so-called Payne effect). This thesis presents the results of a large variety of experimental investigation, a constitutive model that is capable of reproducing the phenomena mentioned above as well as meaningful simulations of the experimental data. In contrast to many works on the Mullins effect, the focus of this thesis is the investigation and modelling of the dynamic material behaviour in the frequency domain in terms of dynamic moduli.
