In this thesis, different approaches are presented to accelerate the solution of electromagnetic surface integral equations. A novel near-zone preconditioner is introduced which is based on a full factorization of the strongest near-couplings. The second major contribution is the development of a domain decomposition method employing a new transmission condition derived from the near-zone matrix. The excellent performance of the proposed methods is demonstrated using a variety of numerical examples.
