Modern mobile data communication standards like UMTS (3G) and LTE (4G) make use of frequency division duplexing (FDD) to achieve the high data rates as required by mobile applications. Currently, fixed-frequency, external SAW interstage filters are used to provide enough isolation between receive and transmit path.
In this work a low noise amplifier (LNA) with integrated Q-enhanced notch filter has been developped. The filter is tunable and can thus be reused for different transmit receive scenarios. The proposed solution saves up to 9 SAW filters per mobile device and offers a competitve alternative.
