In the case of silicon solar cells the desire for higher efficiencies leads to technological improvements. This thesis addresses the impact of physical properties of wet-chemically treated silicon surfaces on the solar cell characteristics. The distinct knowledge about the surface characteristics is found to be a key factor to improve highly efficient silicon solar cells even further.
