Measures for controlling wood destroying fungi and insects are regulated in the DIN standard 68 800-4 on wood protection. The present recommendation is meant to be regulatory, complementing the standard with a detailed description of the particular chemical measures necessary for proper controlling. Architects, planning engineers and executioners who constitute the target group of the present recommendation, will moreover find a detailed description of characteristic attributes and living conditions of dry rot. Mycelia and body of the fungus are represented by as much a 25 colour photographs allow to determine the type of fungus. The recommendation is rounded out with a directory of services useful for submissions. Indications are given on related species of dry rots, on limits and possibilities for determining the age and on health risks.
