The Theory of Tonality presented here is deduced from an authoritative symmetry for tonal phenomena. Its discovery motivated the development of a radically new analytical method. It allows the examination of compositions which have hardly been accessible for tonal analysis until now. In the analytical setion, the tonal paths of various enigma of the romantic period, in Claude Debussy`s pentatonic zones, and in selected dodecaphonic compositions of Arnold Schönberg are unveiled. Furthermore, the scope of analytic possibilities is expanded considerably when dealing with patterns of classical harmonics. The increase in analytic precision serves to inspire contemplation of common patterns of perception and premises of contemporary compositional techniques.
