Museum of the Old Colony, Pablo Delano confronts
the complex legacies of US–Puerto Rican relations
since 1898, when Spain ceded the island to the
United States, following the Spanish-American War.

This richly illustrated exhibition catalogue unpacks
Delano’s incisive critique of how history is seen,
remembered and believed.
Featuring new photography by the artist document
ing the installation, the publication reinterprets
Puerto Rico’s visual past and its diasporic histories
through the critical framework of Pablo Delano’s
internationally acclaimed The Museum of the Old
Colony project. By examining archival images, colonial ways of seeing and connections to the Puerto Rican diaspora, the book offers fresh insights into how visual narratives shape identity and memory

Stephanie Heydt
Stephanie Heydt kam Ende 2023 vom High Museum of Art zum NBMAA, wo sie als Kuratorin für amerikanische Kunst tätig war und die beiden museumsübergreifenden Förderprojekte zur kuratorischen Forschung und Diversifizierung des kuratorischen Berufsfelds leitete. Als erfahrene Kuratorin und Wissenschaftlerin bringt Heydt ihre Expertise in der Leitung mehrjähriger Projekte und ihre Fachkenntnisse in historischer Forschung ein. Sie ist Absolventin der Cornell University, hat einen Master in Kunstgeschichte von der University of Chicago und einen Doktortitel von der Boston University. Stephanie Heydt is Director of Collections and Exhibitions at the New Britain Museum of American Art.
