Personal insights from a full-blooded musician who was born in the village of Grand Bay in southern Dominica and didn't leave the island until he was an adult, but whose heart remains there.
It's a story about growing up on a small Caribbean island with all its obstacles, lows, highs, dreams, hopes, expectations, and given traditions. Also about the later departure to discover the wide world. All this with a thirst for adventure and especially with music at heart. Ras Perez gives personal insights into his path as a musician and into his culture, which reflects a people with Caribbean and African roots and the influence of colonial history.

Ras Perez was born in the village of Grand Bay
situated at the southern tip of the island, Dominica.
From an early age, he was attracted to music,
because his father played saxophone in the local village band.
After playing music and recording with local ensembles,
he decided to travel outside of his homeland and region, and currently resides in Berlin.
