Introduction: AI is for anyone and everyone Over the years, different people have perceived artificial intelligence as myriads of technological advancements. The commonest, however, views technology as a beautiful marriage of machines and computers functioning intelligently towards a particular output. While some believe it is here to replace millenniums of human effort, the major argument is that machines would make human effort even more effective and efficient overtime. Others see it as “a system” with the ability to correctly interpret external data, to learn from such data, and to use those learnings to achieve specific goals and tasks through flexible adaptation. Amidst the many definitions is a common ground that artificial intelligence, now commonly referred to as AI, employs machines and computers to facilitate working processes and solve the many problems plaguing humankind. In short, it is an intelligence designed by humans and demonstrated by machines. The term AI is used to describe these functions of human-made tool that emulates the “cognitive” abilities of the natural intelligence of human minds. It can take many forms, including technical infrastructure (i.e. algorithms), a part of a (production) process, or an end-user product. AI looks increasingly likely to deeply transform the way in which modern societies live and work.
