New research and perspectives on the filmic oeuvre of one of the most important female painters of the 20th century.
The catalogue offers new insights into Lassnig's engagement with the experimental film and feminist communities of 1970s New York, animation as a vehicle for comedy, and American culture and mass media. In addition to a scholarly essay on Lassnig's animated films it contains an contribution by novelist, poet, and essayist Melissa Broder, and a reprint of Nora Ephron's 1968 article "Makeover: The Short, Unglamorous Saga of a New Glamorous Me" as well as two essays written by Lassnig herself in the 1970s.
Text: Melissa Broder, Ashton Cooper, Nora Ephron, Maria Lassnig.
