El origen volcánico de las Islas Canarias hace que el paisaje submarino en las aguas costeras, a primera vista pueda parecer muy robusto, agreste y masivo. Pero se trata de arrecifes de pronunciada pendiente, con un agua azul marina y una superficie de arenas blancas expansivas, de las que aparentemente remontan los arrecifes. Y qué decir de los extensos lechos de algas marinas que se extienden a una profundidad de hasta 40 metros. No debemos olvidar que en este impresionante entorno submarino encontramos un ecosistema muy frágil, es el hogar de una increíble variedad de peces, invertebrados y plantas. Pero ¿por cuánto tiempo? Es nuestro deber preservar estos tesoros, para nuestro disfrute y el de nuestros hijos. Si no lo hacemos nosotros, amantes del buceo, ¿quién lo hará entonces? No sólo es nuestro interés preservar este maravilloso ecosistema, ya que en un mar muerto nadie quiere bucear, sino también lo es de los que sólo llegan a ver la superficie del agua. The volcanic origin of the Canary Islands makes the underwater landscapes of the coastal waters seem , at first sight, very sturdy and incredibly massive. It are the steeply sloping reefs with their deep blue water and the expansive snow-white sand surfaces from which the reefs apparently soar. And do not forget the extensive sea grass meadows that reach to a depth of up to 40 meters. All these immense impressions of size and width also often make us forget that we are moving in a very fragile ecosystem. This Canarian ecosystem still houses an almost unbelievable variety of fish, invertebrates and plants. But for how much longer ? We all must preserve these treasures for our future and for that of our children. So, if not as a diver? Who else ? Who else then a diver !?

Martin Majewski: Martin Majewski – geboren 1960 in Gelsenkirchen. Heute hat er fast 30 Jahre Erfahrungen im Tauchsport gesammelt und ist seit 20 Jahren Tauchlehrer. 2008 hat er erstmalig im Zentralatlantik vor den Kanarischen Inseln getaucht. Er war so beeindruckt, dass er gleich anschließend auf der Insel Teneriffa eine kleine Tauchbasis eröffnete. Nach nun mehr als 5000 Tauchgängen und genauso vielen Unterwasserfotos, dazu seine langjährige Arbeit als freiberuflicher Fotojournalist in den Achtziger Jahren, entstand die Idee zu diesem Fisch - u. Arten Führer für die Kanarischen Inseln
