Hemodynamic regulation for cardiac patients in intensive care unit
After cardiac surgery patients often develop hemodynamic instability during their stay in the intensive care unit. This work proposes an automated controller, which is able to regulate the hemodynamic parameters including the blood pressure using continuous infusion of specific drugs. The automated regulation is based on fuzzy logic that incorporates existing knowledge of the medical experts and is extended with an adaptive algorithm. The performance is evaluated in a simulation environment, which has been developed for this purpose.
