Advancements in communication technologies enable organizations to convene the most qualified team members regardless of where they are located in the organization. Thus, these knowledge-intensive teams bring together members to take on projects that are too complex, uncertain, and non-routine to be managed by a single person. Today’s virtual teams are as fluid, dynamic, complex, and flexible as ever, and they operate with looser boundaries. The premise of this dissertation is that the nature of virtual teams is radically evolving. Although team-based organizations are widespread, arguably the norm these days, teams today are designed, implemented, used, and transitioned in novel ways. Based on this premise Bettina Cassandra Riedl is interested in the influence of time on certain key virtual team dynamics and processes, as well as cultural aspects of groups and individuals in a virtual context.

Bettina Cassandra Riedl
Dr. Cassandra Riedl obtained her doctoral degree in the field of Organizational Behavior in 2013 at the Institute for Information, Organization, and Management at the Munich School of Business with overseas stays at the University of California Los Angeles and the Northwestern University. After her graduation she got a scholarship from the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) to identify prototypical process patterns to develop enhanced organizational design structures. She tested the results in an iterative approach with her clients in the fields: Future of Work, New Workplaces and Digitization. Dr. Cassandra Riedl combines her scientific research with guidelines from Systemic Organizational Development (DGTA) and Transactional Analysis (DGTA).
