Applied Business Psychology
Understanding Work, Consumption, and Society in a Changing World

How can organizations build trust in times of uncertainty? What drives sustainable consumer behavior? And how can businesses create value while contributing to society?

Applied Business Psychology provides a comprehensive and internationally oriented introduction to the psychological foundations of business and economic behavior. Against the backdrop of global megatrends such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, demographic change, and geopolitical disruption, this textbook places people at the center of economic and societal developments.

Structured around three key domains—Work and Organizations, Consumption and Markets, and Capital and Society—the book combines scientific evidence with practical application. Readers gain insight into contemporary topics including leadership in virtual and hybrid teams, New Work, the future of work and AI, future skills, generational management, sustainable consumption, customer trust and distrust, user and customer experience, corporate social responsibility, incentive systems, and behavioral business ethics.

Designed for undergraduate and graduate students as well as educators and practitioners, the text offers a clear didactic structure, real-world examples, and digital supplementary resources that support both learning and teaching. By integrating psychological perspectives across economic contexts, the book equips readers with the knowledge and tools needed to understand and shape the future of organizations, markets, and society.
