Beschreibung

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has established itself as a groundbreaking tool in the human neurosciences and is widely used in disciplines such as medicine, psychology, and biology for both basic research and clinical investigations. Introduction to Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging provides an accessible introduction to the fundamentals of fMRI, along with a detailed explanation of the design principles of fMRI experiments and the complex steps involved in data analysis, including modern multivariate analytical methods.
The book is suitable both for introductory Master's-level courses and for independent study when conducting fMRI research projects. It guides readers through all essential stages, from developing an experiment to analyzing, presenting, and interpreting the resulting data. Drawing on their expertise as contributors to the development of fMRI methodology, the authors also illustrate the practical application of these methods through examples from their own research.
Whether you are a newcomer to the field or an experienced researcher, this book will help you better understand neuroimaging studies and use fMRI effectively and purposefully in your neuroscience research.

About the Authors

Prof. Dr. phil. Stefan Pollmann holds the Chair of General Psychology at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, where he teaches General Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. His research focuses, among other topics, on the experimental investigation of attention and learning processes, as well as the representation of eye movements in the higher visual cortex.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Tömme Noesselt holds the Chair of Biological Psychology at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. His research is concerned with the analysis of behavioral performance in visual and auditory perception, as well as multisensory integration.

The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence. A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content.
