Understanding and overcoming toxic and manipulative relationships can lead to greater emotional freedom, greater peace of mind, and improved physical well-being.
The affinity between deeply empathic, highly sensitive people and narcissistic individuals is no coincidence. Both have endured emotionally destabilising, often traumatic periods in their lives—most commonly during childhood. They are drawn to one another because they appear to be such opposites, and yet the wounds they carry within are remarkably similar.
To open ourselves to these hidden pains, and to recognise, understand and ultimately transcend the dynamics at work between the people involved, can become a path towards inner growth and healing. What we experience as toxic can cause long-forgotten or suppressed suffering to resurface, giving us an opportunity at last to free ourselves from it.
