How to Have a Stable Mind in the Kingdom of God presents mental health as an essential concern of Christian discipleship, kingdom
representation and whole person stewardship. Its central argument is that a stable mind is not an emotionless mind, a life without suffering
or a believer who never requires professional help. Stability is the growing capacity to remain grounded in identity, truth, embodied care,
safe relationship, wise action and hope beneath the government of Jesus Christ.
The book begins by establishing why the mind matters to the King. Thought, interpretation, memory, emotion, desire, bodily condition
and relationship influence every form of obedience and service. Mental health is therefore not an imported distraction from the gospel. It
concerns the person who receives and represents the kingdom. The early chapters reject the division of human beings into disconnected
spiritual and physical parts and show why a stable mind must remain emotionally honest. Renewal involves Scripture and prayer, but also
embodied practice, safe relationship, repentance, treatment and changed environments. Faith becomes a mask when spiritual vocabulary is
used to hide exhaustion, trauma, sin, abuse or the need for help.
The Old Testament section examines minds under pressure without imposing modern diagnoses upon biblical figures. Noah reveals
sustained obedience during isolation and uncertainty. Abraham shows how promise and delay can produce anxiety, while the journey with
Isaac reveals anguish within costly obedience. Hagar demonstrates the mental consequences of rejection and displacement and the restoring
significance of being seen by God. Jacob embodies the exhaustion of running beneath a false identity, while Joseph shows how purpose can
be preserved through betrayal, slavery, accusation and imprisonment.
