Beschreibung

This book prepares students and technologists for registry examinations in nuclear medicine technology by providing practice questions and answers with detailed explanations. Now in its third edition, it includes the latest, up-to-date material.

Nuclear medicine technology has been a fascinating subject ever since the early rectilinear scanner produced images, and is becoming ever more interesting (and demanding) with the growth of positron emission tomography and other molecular imaging. Taking and passing the exam offered by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certi? cation Board (NMTCB), or that offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Techno- gists (ARRT), is the ? nal step in reaching the status of Nuclear M edicine Technologist. These exams are both challenging and the breadth of knowledge that they cover mean that a th- ough review is in order before attempting either exam. This book was created to assist in preparation for those exams. In addition to recalling information, the questions require application of information, and analysis of situations. This e- tion provides detailed explanations for answers to the questions in each chapter, and offers a new chapter on Positron Emission Tomography. (Since 2004, the NMTCB has offered a specialty exam in this modality, allowing technologists to continue their education and augment their career quali? cations. ) Both the ARRT and the NMTCB use computer testing for these exams. Because of this, questions cannot be skipped. A good strategy is to try to get through all of the questions, and ma- ing or ? agging each one that was a guess.

The only comprehensive guide for exam preparation on the market

Providing a mock registry exam

Includes a new chapter on positron emission tomography

This book prepares students and technologists for registry examinations in nuclear medicine technology. An inclusive test preparation guide, it begins with the basics of radioactive decay, and ends with a new chapter on positron emission tomography. Each chapter provides practice questions and answers with complete explanations. It is ideally structured for use by examinees who need to identify areas for improvement before attempting the registry exam. This book tests both the basic knowledge required of nuclear medicine technologists and the practical application of that knowledge. It is a comprehensive guide for exam preparation.

From the reviews of the third edition:

"This edition includes new questions to address the latest changes in the board examinations and the FDA approved radiopharmaceuticals. Students, both medically qualified and those studying for the technologists' examination, will find the book excellent for revision. At less than GBP 20, it should be on the bookshelf of every imaging department."

RAD Magazine, January, 2006

"This is an update of a review for those wishing to take the nuclear medicine technology boards. … Students in nuclear medicine technology are the intended audience. … Answers are provided for the questions along with explanations. … This one is very well written and a great tool for those wanting to take the NMTCB and/or the ARRT (N) exams." (Ann Voslar, Doody’s Review Services, January, 2009)
