To understand cancer we must know how Ca2+ drives cell cycles and how and why cells lose Ca2+ control while climbing the steps to cancer. This book presents a much needed and concise, but wide-ranging overview of what we know about the several different roles of Ca2+ in starting, and subsequently driving, the major cell cycle transitions. Also explored is the differentiation-apoptosis (diffpoptosis) of two exemplary cell systems - colon and skin. The information should inspire the reader to become intrigued about the possibilities on the horizon for Ca2+ in cancer research. The main goal of the book is to encourage young readers to follow the tantalizing leads presented and continue their research in the field.
