The phenomena of cancer dormancy and premalignancy are well recognized but poorly understood. The purpose of this book is to bring together information on these topics from clinical and laboratory analysis of different cancer models. Fourteen chapters written by experts in the field address basic and clinical issues pertaining to the tumor dormant and premalignant states. Experimental models and clinical situations are described. Cellular, molecular and micro-environmental factors underlying these phenomena are reviewed and considerations regarding medical management are discussed.
