This manual builds on the "Relaislexikon", published in 1984 and edited by Dr.E.H. Sauer, one of the pioneers of polarized relay technology. Dr. Ernst Weber played a substantial role in the creation of that volume. This new book came about because of the great demand for an overview of the state of relay technology today. Each of the various chapters stands alone, but comprehension of them is facilitated by the encyclopedia-like section of terms and definitions. After an introduction on the development and meaning of relays in thich technological trends are also described, the chapters on the most frequent areas of application and the detailed practical hints are very helpful for the circuit developer. A compilation of the most important formulas in connection with relay technology and a four-language index of the common technical terms round off this volume. TOC:Relays: Evolution and Significance.- Terms and Definitions.- Formulas and units for Relay Technology.- Major Applications for Relays and related Standards.- Application Guidelines.- Findex.- Literature.-
