This book is a collection of scientific papers presented at the 6th European Conference on Mixing held in Pavia. The papers contain the most up-to-date reporting of research and development conducted by industrial and academic workers. The generic title Mixing is sub-divided into specific areas which are rather more self contained and thus allow the specialist to quickly identify the advances made in particular areas. However, the non-specialist can make use of the papers in other complementary ways, by gaining an overall appreciation of which topics are mature with results that are therefore more explicable and which are emerging and why they are important. In addition, the references contained in each paper are valuable sources of information for readers wishing to learn more about certain aspects of the topics. This volume is one in a successful series of similar publications and the cross-referencing between the various volumes retains the information in a moderately compact and easily identifiable format.
