The present collection of 12 papers ranges from introductory general reviews to a number of detailed, process oriented, regional and local studies, related to the distribution of aridic soils and duricrusts in landscapes of three continents. It is followed by three papers on modelling and laboratory studies of geomorphic processes significant in aridic landscapes. It is rounded up by a methodological study of landform-vegetation relationships and a regional study of desertification.
