We would like to take you on a brief journey through time and introduce you to some historical measuring instruments. In East Asia, there were already rain gauges in the 15th century that were very similar to today’s devices.The physical relationships between meteorological parameters were only discovered in recent centuries. Building up on this, a new generation of measuring instruments emerged, which in return offered more insights into atmospheric processes. However, significant developments in the field of measurement technology took place in recent. Many tried-and-tested instruments have been, and continue to be, replaced by electronic sensors. You may even own some of these instruments featured in this calendar, such as a minimum-maximum thermometer. The photographs on the front pages of the calendar capture the beauty and variety of what can otherwise described rather superficially by the term ‘weather’. While the front sides feature spectacular images of unique weather phenomena above the monthly calendar charts, the reverse sides provide easily understandable explanations of the presented weather conditions. In addition, the reverse sides also include, and this is what makes this calendar so special, concise, self-contained specialist articles in words and pictures. Everything on the reverse sides is presented both in English and German language. The calendars are available as a wall calendar (DIN A3 landscape format) and a postcard calendar (without texts on the reverse, but with a foldout desk stand).
