Die Arbeit untersucht die verfassungsrechtlichen Grenzen der Nutzung von Microtargeting durch politische Parteien und Kandidaten im Wahlkampf. Anhand der technischen und tatsächlichen Hintergründe sowie der empirischen Erkenntnisse zu der Wirksamkeit dieser Wahlwerbemethode wird das bestehende verfassungsrechtliche Spannungsverhältnis analysiert. Danach können die Grundsätze der Freiheit und der Öffentlichkeit der Wahl durch die Nutzung dieses Wahlwerbeinstruments beeinträchtigt sein.
»Microtargeting and Other Data-Driven Election Campaigning Methods in Germany. A Constitutional Analysis of the Use of these Methods by Political Parties and Candidates, Considering Inter-Disciplinary Research Findings«: This study examines the constitutional limits on the use of microtargeting by political parties and candidates during election campaigns. It analyses the constitutional tensions surrounding this issue by examining the technical and factual background, as well as empirical findings on the effectiveness of this campaigning method. It concludes that the principles of freedom of election and the public nature of elections may be compromised by the use of this campaigning method.
