Durch die Vernetzung verschiedener Lebensbereiche durch das Internet der Dinge entstehen neue strafrechtliche Herausforderungen. Auf Grundlage umfassender rechtstatsächlicher Ausführungen befasst sich die Arbeit in materiellrechtlicher Hinsicht mit der Frage nach dem strafrechtlichen Schutz der Daten und Geräte des Internets der Dinge. In prozessualer Hinsicht wird erörtert, inwieweit technisch mögliche Ermittlungsmaßnahmen mithilfe der Daten und Geräte des Internets der Dinge zulässig sind.

Challenges Smart Devices Pose to both Substantive Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law«: The interconnectedness of everyday life via the Internet of Things poses new challenges to both substantive criminal law and criminal procedural law. This study addresses, from a substantive law perspective, the question of how criminal law can protect data and devices within the Internet of Things. From a procedural standpoint, it discusses the extent to which technically feasible investigative measures utilizing data and devices of the Internet of Things are admissible.
