This second edition of DIN Handbook 45 is a compilation of 79 standards on threads used in various technical fields. Most of the documents included here are fundamental standards on threads for general applications covering a wide range of thread types: ISO metric general purpose and trapezoidal screw threads, stub metric trapezoidal screw threads, round screw threads, buttress threads and pipe threads. The handbook also includes numerous standards on threads for use in special applications such as optical engineering, automotive engineering, railway engineering, pipeline construction and packaging. Many of the standards included have international relevance. Focal point of standardization activities during the last years was the revision of the standards DIN 13-50 "ISO general purpose metric screw threads - Part 50: Combination of tolerance classes for formed internal screw threads", DIN 13-52 "ISO general purpose metric screw threads - Part 52: Multi-start thread tolerances and deviation of profile", DIN 8140-3 "Wire thread inserts for ISO metric screw threads - Part 3: Gauges and gauge sizes" as well as the adoption of the latest version of ISO 965-1 "ISO general purpose metric screw threads - Tolerances - Part 1: Principles and basic data" as DIN ISO 965-1. All these revised standards are given in this handbook.
