In volumes 1 and 2 by the author we already learned a number of significant facts about the somewhat antique telephone Drum Dial FgTist 261/264 from the 1950s. Volume 1 introduced the exterior and interior in detail, whilst Volume 2 dealt with the history of its patents, right up to the final, innovative and future-oriented design.
Volume 3 now looks at a completely different aspect, namely the sentiments and passions that it triggers and continues to fuel within its worldwide fan and collector community. Why on earth are people in the 21st century – in the age of smartphones and Artificial Intelligence (AI) - still interested in a phone from a long forgotten era, a device that is over 70 years old, but that is still usable and works without problems? What does this device trigger in technology and design enthusiasts alike and how far does this passion go?
The author Christoph T. M. Krause himself is hopelessly drawn to this little device and thus has created a contemporary work that, even today, introduces new friends to the Drum Dial and holds up a mirror to the passion of the old “cracks”. Christoph T. M. Krause lebt in Köln, Deutschland. Krause ist seit über 20 Jahren Hundedienstleister und führt ein erfolgreiches Unternehmen. Seit 2020 ist er Buchautor und schreibt Sachbücher, aber auch Romane und Erzählungen. Dabei sind seine Interessen weit gefächert. Christoph T. M. Krause, lives in Cologne. Krause has been a dog service provider for over 20 years and runs a successful company. Since 2020 he has been a book author and writes non-fiction books, but also novels and stories. His interests are wide-ranging. "The writing just flows out of me, the thought arises in my head and develops as I write." His professional portfolio is just as versatile as writing: from studying for a teacher's degree, to many years of working in the sales department of a computer company, to his own company in the dog sector, there is a lot to be said for it. "For me, writing means finally capturing what may move me for years and taking the reader into a world that might be alien to him.
