The Alternative Model for Personality Disorders

This special issue presents expert summaries of the Alternative Model for Personality Disorders (AMPD) in a brief and concise format taking differing vantage points. Most importantly, it reflects the views of leading experts in personality neuroscience, statistical analysis, personality theory, object relations theory, and personality/personality disorder assessment that address both the strengths and weaknesses of the AMPD as well as the approach used to develop the AMPD. Many of the papers also point the way forward to move beyond the AMPD. This issue will be of interest to anyone involved in research or clinical work that focuses on personality pathology, ranging from the undergraduate student of psychology or resident in psychiatry to the most advanced members of personality and personality disorder research and clinical communities. It may also be of interest to those in allied mental health fields such as social work, psychiatric nursing, epidemiology, and public health.
