Bogotá is a city of migrants who come from the poverty stricken country areas in search of a better opportunity structure. But their adjustment to city life is accompanied by severe tensions and insecurity caused by the conflict between traditional and modern ways of life. In this urban predicament of «emotional polation and economic insecurity» the experience of Spirit ecstasy is of particular importance. It locks deeply into aboriginal patterns of religiosity and also provides the migrant with the inner security for which he craves. Thus in this ambient of rampant change the new city dweller finds a way to live a better, a more victorious and successful life.
