Notes on Turning brings together works by Gregor Eldarb from 2018 to 2025 and offers insight into an artistic practice situated at the intersection of film, painting, installation, and the artist’s book. At its core are experimental film and video works grounded in extensive research into architecture, fluid dynamics, natural processes, and political aesthetics, realized through custom-built analog apparatuses, reflections, and rotating image carriers. Complemented by the painting series Composite Studies, construction drawings, research materials, and installation documentation, the catalogue foregrounds processes of construction, perception, and materiality. With texts by Christian Höller and Cristina Moraru, and graphic design by Sylvia Gruber.

Gregor Eldarb (b. 1971 in in Poland) grew up in Sweden, lives and works in Vienna; 1992 to 1997 studied painting and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna; since 2005 regular participation in solo and group exhibitions in Austria and abroad; various awards and fellowships et. al. a. WIELS Residency, Brussels; I.S.C.P, The International Studio & Curatorial Program New York; in addition to his own publishing activities, he is also active in teaching, a. o. Guest Professor, University of Ostrava, Faculty of Art, Czech Republic, 2017/18; University Assistant, Drawing Studies, Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, 2021/2022
