Genomic high-throughput technologies (GHTT) represent a fast and cost-effective tool towards a more comprehensive understanding of the molecular background of complex diseases. The growing volume and complexity of datasets increase the need for sustainable infrastructure and state-of-the-art tools for efficient data management, including analysis and integration. Physicians and other healthcare professionals should be informed about the restrictions, the potential of GHTT and basic, partly unresolved legal, social, and ethical issues. The conference proceedings presented here include interdisciplinary contributions from the workshops organized by the researching group "GenoPerspektiv" in November 2016 and July 2017 at the University of Göttingen, which had the declared aim of systematically capturing the topic in its varied relations and current trends.
