The introduction of attendance at minister's seminaries and trainee curates made a considerable contribution to the modern professionalization of the ministry. Birgit Weyel studies this period of time from the establishment of the Wittenberg seminary in 1817 to the church law of 1898.
The introduction of attendance at minister's seminaries and trainee curates made a considerable contribution to the modern professionalization of the ministry. Birgit Weyel studies this period of time from the establishment of the Wittenberg seminary in 1817 to the church law of 1898. Her historical reconstruction of the change from time spent as a curate to a real training phase for Protestant ministers in Prussia is a contribution to current discussions regarding pastoral theology and training concepts. It can also provide the defining debates surrounding the modern image of the ministry and the appropriate educational reforms with the necessary depth and make it easier to understand the current problems.
