The encyclopaedia also provides information on the composition, performance and sensitivity of almost 300 explosives and propellants formulations and around 150 pyrotechnic compositions. In addition, civil and military applications for explosives, their chemical and physical principles, test methods, institutions and, finally, persons who have made an international contribution to the development and investigation of explosives are described. 100 illustrations, some in color, 160 tables, 228 structural formulas, over 1600 references to primary literature, 1700 entries in the subject index and the English translation of all subjectentries make the book an indispensable standard work for all readers concerned with explosives, propellants, pyrotechnic compositions, fireworks and ammunition.
