The Constantinople Council of 680/681, and its doctrinal decision regarding the dual wills and operations of Jesus Christ, is of normative significance for the Roman-Catholic and Orthodox Churches. There has never been a modern presentation of its development and impact. This study takes a historical, philological, and theological perspective to analyze the records and minutes of its eighteen sessions on the basis of their critical edition.
