The book explores various modes of reappropriation and hijacking of anticolonial and/or decolonial vocabularies by right-wing actors and authoritarian regimes in several important contexts shaped by the new-old military conflicts, ensuing debates on the meanings of “imperialism” and “postcoloniality,” and the broader trends embedded in the rise of right-wing forces that rely on historical traumas and collective memory in order to capitalize on self-victimization. The case studies presented here analyse countries and actors from different continents and political and cultural milieus, which are nevertheless united by the historical experience of peripherality, marginalization, and/or imperial and colonialist subjugation.
