Beschreibung
The question of truth plays a decisive role in Adorno’s philosophy. His thoroughly coherent dialectical approach leads him to investigate the question of truth by paying constant attention to its dialectical opposite, namely the untruth, and to the inseparable relation between them. The potential inherence of an aspect of untruth even in phenomena that otherwise appear as true appears as a fundamental pattern of thinking that acts in many dimensions of Adorno’s complex and versatile thought. First, the author inquires into Adorno’s conception of an essential dialectics between truth and untruth at a strictly philosophical level. Then, he focuses on the way in which the truth/untruth relation is present in Adorno’s fascinating investigations of aesthetic phenomena of our time and his critical confrontations with other philosophers. Until recent times, the Adorno scholarship has apparently not paid too much attention to the significance of the question of truth in Adorno’s thinking and its manifold ramifications, which appear of special importance in the age of "post-truth."
This book fills an important gap and promotes a rediscovery of such an important topic in the field of current Adorno studies.
