Johann Klaj (circa 1616–1656) is considered one of the most formally and linguistically experimental poets of the German Baroque, though his period of productivity lasted only a single decade. This study addresses and contextualizes Klaj’s work from a variety of perspectives, with a focus on aesthetics, rhetoric, art history, music history, and media history, along with the cultural and social backdrop of his poetry.
