This volume examines Daniel Kehlmann’s works, with specific attention to the intertextual and intermedia references that are characteristic of his writing, as well as his literary politics. In addition, the study discusses the supposed or actual tension between “entertaining” and “serious” literature. It thereby relates the author, his works, and their reception to general tendencies in contemporary literature.
