This volume of letters of the Fruitful Society (1617–1680) – the last in the correspondence chronologically – marks the final phase of the Academy under its first president, Prince Louis I of Anhalt-Köthen (1617–1650). During the Thirty Years’ War, the Academy’s philological and literary work was accompanied by an irenic impetus that emphasized conciliatory communication and the settlement of conflicts.
