With over 2,000 annotated maps, the Atlas of German Family Names (DFA) makes accessible for the first time Germany’s entire family name inventory according to statistical frequency and geographic dissemination. Linguistic considerations are examined in a section on grammar, while cultural historical aspects are illuminated in a lexical section. The final volume 7 contains an index of the approx. 60.000 family names covered in DFA.
