Today, we produce moving images with small but complex apparatuses whose functioning remains opaque. Exploring a series of portable small cameras, playback devices, and storage units this media history sheds light upon the expansion of such apparatuses into the home. Through the analysis of media standards and specifications it offers a non-linear genealogy of the moving image from the perspective of the tiny, the weightless, and the portable.
