The influence of grammarians on the standardisation of German has been a popular topic of linguistic study in recent years. How their language norms were actually implemented in language use has, however, remained unclear. This book focuses on the role of education in order to provide an insight into norm implementation in eighteenth-century Austria, particularly highlighting processes of stigmatisation and invisibilisation.
