Presents characteristics of CO2 adsorption, the interactions with catalyst surface/reductants, as well as the molecular energetic for efficient catalyst development. Technologies capable of efficient chemical reduction of CO2 to fuels and materials are shown.Effects such as surface defects, oxygen mobility and ionicity, surface acidity/basicity, shape confinement, hydrogen and oxygen spillover are discussed in the light of various applications.
