M.V. Lomonosov (1711–1765) was a Russian scientist and writer, a true Enlightenment polymath. His 1763 First Principles of Metallurgy ranks among the best-sellers in the history of science and is an interesting example of how knowledge was shared between Saxony and Russia in the early 18th century. This volume makes an annotated edition of the full work available for the first time in German.
